Each shade is formed in pâte de verre-a labour-intensive glassmaking technique in which coloured glass is fused within a mould to create softly graduated colour, depth, and a gently textured surface. When illuminated, the glass reveals a particularly warm and diffuse glow, making these shades as decorative when lit as they are striking in daylight. The signed shades are complemented by well-proportioned bronze galleries and fittings, which add a handsome architectural contrast to the luminous glass.
