Hand blown flower paperweight
Hand blown flower paperweight
7571
A 19th century French hand blown single yellow flower paperweight in the style of Bacarat
Hand-blown paperweights are decorative glass objects created by skilled artisans using traditional glassblowing techniques. Originating in the mid-19th century, they became particularly associated with the renowned French glasshouses of Baccarat, Saint-Louis, and Clichy.
Molten glass is carefully shaped and often encases intricate designs such as millefiori canes, floral arrangements, latticinio twists, or miniature landscapes. Each paperweight is individually crafted, making no two examples exactly alike.
Originally intended to prevent papers from blowing away on desks, they are now highly collectible works of art, admired for their technical skill, vibrant colours, and remarkable optical depth.
