Bernard Rice (1900-1998) was an Austrian-born artist renowned for his distinctive woodcuts. He studied wood engraving, drawing, and painting in Austria before moving to London at 19 to attend the Westminster School of Art alongside David Jones and Clifford Webb, later continuing at the Royal Academy Schools.

In 1922, Rice relocated to Bosnia, where he taught furniture design and drew inspiration from the local landscapes and villages, notably creating dynamic woodcuts of Bosnian scenes.
