The Webster Company of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, was founded in 1869 by George K. Webster, initially producing plated and gold-front goods before specialising in sterling silver. After Webster's death in 1894, the business became known as the Webster Company and developed a strong reputation for well-made domestic and decorative silver. Its output included hollowware, dressing-table accessories, picture frames, napkin rings, baby items, cigarette holders and small novelties.
At its height, the firm employed several hundred workers in a large North Attleboro factory. In 1950 Webster became a subsidiary of Reed & Barton, continuing its long tradition of American silversmithing excellence.
