Hadrill & Horstmann was a British engineering and lighting company best known for its innovative counterbalance desk lamps in the mid-20th century. The firm became famous for producing industrial "counterpoise" lamps that could be easily adjusted using a weighted mechanism, allowing smooth and flexible movement. These lamps combined practicality with stylish industrial design and were widely used in offices, workshops, and studios.
Many models, such as this Simplus lamp, are now considered classic examples of British industrial design and are sought after by collectors. Today, surviving lamps are valued as vintage pieces that reflect the creativity and engineering skill of their time.
