Belle époque platinum and natural seed peal necklace
Belle époque platinum and natural seed peal necklace
6542
An Edwardian belle époque platinum and natural seed peal necklace with a white gold clasp, circa 1910.
Natural seed pearls are tiny, irregular pearls formed without human intervention, typically less than 2 millimetres in diameter. Found in oysters, they develop when a foreign particle becomes encased in nacre. Unlike cultured pearls, these are rare and often discovered as by-products of wild pearl harvesting.
Their organic shapes and subtle lustre make them unique for intricate jewellery designs, particularly in antique pieces.
