A fine and rare 18th-century yellow-gold closed-back pendant, dating to circa 1770, exquisitely set with rose-cut and old-cut diamonds, ruby, emerald, and sapphire. The jewel is further embellished with natural saltwater pearls and finished with an exceptional natural pear-shaped pearl drop.
The richly coloured gemstones are arranged in a delicate, balanced composition, their varied tones enlivened by the soft, candlelit sparkle of the early-cut diamonds. The closed-back settings are characteristic of the period, designed to enhance the brilliance and colour of the stones, while the warm yellow gold provides a luxurious and harmonious ground for the gemset design.
