A pair of very decorative creamware chamber sticks with pierced dishes, circa 1900.

English creamware is a refined earthenware pottery developed in the mid-18th century and celebrated for its smooth, pale cream-coloured body and elegant simplicity. Produced by potteries across Staffordshire, it became especially popular after improvements by Josiah Wedgwood, whose high-quality version was named Queen's Ware after gaining the patronage of Queen Charlotte.

Creamware was lighter, stronger and less expensive than porcelain, making it accessible to a wide audience. Decorated with painted, printed or moulded designs, it was widely exported and remains one of the most influential ceramic styles in British pottery history.
