A large 18th century Delft blue and white tin-glazed vase in the oriental taste. Inscribed and possibly Justus Brouwer, circa 1760.
Justus Brouwer (1716-1775) was a prominent Dutch ceramicist and owner of the Delftware pottery workshop De Porceleyne Bijl (The Porcelain Axe) in Delft, Netherlands. Active between 1739 and 1775, he designed and produced various earthenware pieces, including vases and dishes.
His works are characterised by intricate blue and white designs, exemplifying the traditional Delftware style. Notably, his creations are part of collections in institutions like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Trust Collections.
